Course Description
Brief review of classical mechanics: Lagrange and Hamilton formalism. Formal structure of quantum mechanics: states, operators, representations, and the Dirac notation. Harmonic oscillator: operator algebra, states. Quantum mechanics in threedimensions: central potentials and the radial equation, bound and scattering states. Angular momentum: operators, algebra of commutators, eigenvalues and eigenstates, spherical harmonics. Spin: SternGerlach devices and measurements, spin. Addition of angular momentum: ClebschGordan series and coefficients. Hydrogen atoms.
