Course Description
This course extends the concepts of static electric and magnetic fields to timevarying fields that give rise to electromagnetic waves. Maxwellâ€™s equations are presented as mathematical description of laws governing these waves. Propagation of electromagnetic waves through different types of media and their behavior at interfaces is explored. Potential fields are introduced along with a discussion on Gauge transformations. The phenomenon of radiation with emphasis on dipole radiation will be studied. Finally, the connection between special theory of relativity and electrodynamics is explored.
